
Ait Melloul, Agadir, is hosting the 12th season of the International Souss Festival for Short film from 26th to 30th of April 2019. It is organized by the professional comedy for cinematic creativity in partnership with the Aït Melloul Community and the Council of Souss Massa and with the support of the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre, as well as the Faculty of languages, arts, and humanities; Ait Melloul.
This Iberian Cinema is celebrated through the Spanish cinematic experience. The director of the festival, Noureddine Alaoui, explained that the 12th season selected the Spanish Cinema as an aesthetic one. In addition, it has an expressive power as well as its diverse artistic techniques as a distinct cinema in Europe, both in the nature of its cinematic imagination or the multiple of visions of its output, not to mention, its geographical location, which made it a balcony of the Mediterranean cinema and a platform for the production and presentation of films with a global reputation.
In this season, more than 19 short films participating and they are from Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Spain, France, Britain, and Turkey. The participated films in the official competition of the festival are distributed between the short fiction film and the short documentary. The jury of the official competition of the International Souss Festival For Short Film, led by Tunisian director Anis Lasouad, includes Yassine Ahjam, art critic Abdel Latif El-Bazi Omrani, director Abdallah Dari and artist Omar Lotfi.
The 12th season will honor the Moroccan actor and director Driss Roukh, who is associated with his distinguished film and visual excellence, and Dr. Hassan Hamaiz in appreciation of his efforts to establish cinematic awareness in the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Humanities.
The films will compete for the 12th season of the festival to get the prize, the International Souss Award for Best Short Fiction Film, the International Souss Award for Best Short Documentary, the Jury Prize, the International Souss for Scenario Award and the International Souss Award for the Audience.
This season will also feature cinematic shows in the Cultural Center of Ait Melloul, parallel shows in the suburbs (Suburbs shows) and a seminar on « Cinema and the Human Common ». Dr. Abdel-Rahman Tamara (Moulay Ismail University, Dr. Omar El-Taour, Ibn Zahr University), Latifa Baqa (writer), Dr. Abdel Salam Dokhan (Abdelmalek Saadi University) and the meeting’s manager is Mohammed Akram Gharabawi (International Schools Palace). A series of new releases related to the aesthetic of the cinematic critic, and it is about the author of « Like Laughing » for the media and the critic, Hassan Narais, and author of « Melodrama” of the creator Hisham al-Khudair, and the book » Herbs and salt » by author Mohammed al-Akali.
The festival will include a workshop on filmmaking by Ahmad Baidu, a workshop on filmmaking by Mohammed Akram Al Gharabawi and a workshop on mechanisms of film analysis under the direction of Dr. Abdul Salam Dukhan. The Faculty of Languages, Arts and Humanities also hosts « Cinematic Experiences » in the presence of prominent actors: Yasin Ahjam, Al-Mahdi Al-Wazzani, Suad Al-Alawi, and Omar Lotfi; as well as a meeting with students about the art of personification with the participation of actor Said Bay, and Driss Roukh. The festival opens to the visual arts through plastic exhibitions and the art of graphics. At the same time, the festival celebrates the visual aesthetics of the cinematic films presented in a Panoramic way at the International Souss Festival for Short Film with its guests from cinema, those who are interested in the cinematic industry and lovers of the cinema at the Cultural Center of Ait Melloul. ��P
