For its 2026-2027 season, the Théâtre de l’Opsis is thinking big and bringing together 13 artists on the stage of the Théâtre Rouge du Conservatoire in order to offer the public a crazy, strong, unifying show, which is aimed at all generations! QUÉBEC CITÉ is History through our stories. An unclassifiable and festive work that tells the story of Quebec through its theater, its culture, its characters.
Directed by Luce Pelletier, also the creator of the project, twelve performers, musically accompanied by Nadine Turbide, combine scenes and speeches to paint an eclectic and feverish portrait of our great moments, whether intimate, political, social or cultural, and to talk about our hopes and our great disillusionments over time.
In particular, these will be the words of more than 40 local authors who will follow one another on stage and who, through different modes of narration giving voice to real and fictional characters, will paint this vivid and vivid portrait of Quebec society. By juxtaposing various approaches, QUÉBEC CITÉ allows you to cross the eras in a kaleidoscopic way. Here, no pre-established rules or linearity, the watchword: party! So, join the dance and let yourself be transported through time, to Quebec from yesterday to today.
2027 marks the 40th anniversary since the Théâtre de l’Opsis’ first production, Grand et petit. While the company has always been meeting foreign authors to introduce them to the Quebec public, to celebrate its 40 years of creation, the company feels the need to return to the very heart of its identity, its culture and its language.
