From October 20 to November 1, 2026, the Maison Théâtre presents souls sisters, a creation by Magali Chouinard intended for children aged 5 to 10. Lasting 45 minutes, this wordless visual and sound show won the 2025 Critics’ Prize from the Quebec Association of Theater Critics (AQCT) as well as the 2026 Maisons de la Culture Prize at the RIDEAU Gala.
Through movement, images, sound and material, the show follows a wild child who explores a natural environment around a stream. Vegetation, water, wind, rocks and animals come to life in a scenic universe in black and white, without the use of words. The work thus approaches childhood as a space of discovery and imagination, while paying particular attention to the relationship between human beings and nature.
soulmates is part of an artistic project divided into three works, which also includes a comic strip and a short film, and which offers different perspectives on this universe. Designed for children, the show is also aimed at an intergenerational audience, both families and school groups. Presented in Canada and on tour in Europe earlier this fall, soulmates stops at the Maison Théâtre before continuing its journey on the Canadian and European stages.

About Magali Chouinard (Val David, 2008) Magali Chouinard is a multidisciplinary artist who, since 2008, has combined visual arts and puppetry — masks and puppets that she animates through performing arts, comics and animation. She creates poetic, symbolic universes, without words and in black and white, exploring doubles, scales and materialities to reflect on fragility and the presence of oneself and nature. His works invite slow contemplation, turned towards interiority.
