Espace Libre is pleased to present the new project of the rising star of the Acadian scene Céleste Godin, BOUÉE, directed by Marc-André Charron, who caused a sensation at the Zone Théâtrale biennial in Ottawa in 2023. Part of the MON VILLAGE series, which is interested in the occupation of the territory and its possession, this show by the autrix of poetry, slam artist and playwright from the Nova Scotia, looks at humanity’s place in an infinite cosmos. With a breathtaking pen and a unique language, the autrix explores the absurd space between the daily anxieties of humankind and the potential of its interstellar ambitions. Going back and forth between retro 8-bit sound and languorous ballads à la Patsy Cline, Katrine Noël and Xavier Richard record the musical composition.
EXTRACTHouse in a mist. It’s not really a mist, but more like, like a cloud.Actually, it’s not that I’m in a cloud.I’m a cloud. And so are you.Everyone are clouds. […]And we talk to each other Well, not like actually talking, but we glow messages back and forth. Your joke about steam almost made me rain my pants. I would say it back, but it’s kind of a had-to-be-there kind of thing. But I can’t help but giggle like an idiot every time I hear the word “Fluffy”.
Autrix: Céleste GodinCéleste Godin is a multidisciplinary autrix originally from Halifax, and living in Paquetville. Since her decision in 2015 to “fire an artist”, Céleste Godin has written columns, essays, slams and several absurdities for the web, often on her plural vision of Acadian identity. In 2019, they signed their first play Overlap, a love-hate letter to Moncton in faux leather produced by Satellite Théâtre. Overlap was published in 2020 by Prize de Parole. Céleste also wrote and performed custom-written texts for the show Tableau de Backyard, broadcast on national Radio-Canada in 2021. Her second play, Bouée, was produced by Satellite Théâtre and released in 2023.
