Films du Boulevard and Maison 4:3 are pleased to unveil the pre-poster and pre-trailer for the feature film BECOMING A MONSTER. Directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud, the film is written by Simon Lavoie, based on the novel How to Become a Monster by Jean Barbe. Produced by Réal Chabot, it stars Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Éric Godon, Peter Meltev, Laura Sepul and Sasha Samar. BECOMING A MONSTER will be on display across Quebec on March 19, 2027.
When Quebec lawyer François Chevalier goes to a Balkan country to defend an alleged war criminal named Viktor Rosh, the latter initially refuses to speak to him. The lawyer must then conduct his own investigation. With the help of Jozef, the mysterious driver and bodyguard provided for him, he returns to the genesis of the criminal; going to meet his family, witnesses, a victim, as well as a woman who would have been his lover. Against all hope, François finally manages to make Viktor talk by evoking a deep wound. In doing so, he soon realizes that the trial awaiting his client is a set-up coordinated by those in power.
Published in 2004 by Éditions Leméac, the novel How to Become a Monster was awarded several prizes, including the Prix des libraires du Québec and the France-Québec Literary Prize.
Produced by Films du Boulevard, with the financial participation of SODEC, Telefilm and provincial and federal tax credits, BECOMING A MONSTER is distributed by Maison 4:3 and will be released on March 19, 2027.
