MAISON 4:3 is pleased to announce that LA DANCE DES RENARDS, Valéry Carnoy’s first feature film, will be released on July 24. Presented as a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival where it won the SACD 2025 Prize as well as at the Angoulême French-speaking film festival where it left with the special mention of the Youth Jury Prize, THE DANCE OF THE FOXes, a true learning story set against a backdrop of friendship, sport and virility, stands out for its ultra realistic approach, mixing professional and non-professional actors, including Samuel Kircher (L’Été last) and Fayçal Anaflous, for the first time on screen, in the main roles. The film was presented in Montreal during the 31st edition of the CINEMANIA festival.
In a sports boarding school, Camille, a young virtuoso boxer, is saved at the last minute from a fatal accident by his best friend Matte. While the doctors think he is cured, an unexplained pain invades him little by little, to the point of calling into question his dreams of grandeur.
With THE DANCE OF FOXS, Valéry Carnoy explores head-on the question of invisible injuries caused by the pressure of competition in sporting environments. Through a sensitive reflection on toxic masculinity and the social expectations that fuel it, the film depicts the journey of a young man who must learn to free himself from the injunctions of performance in order to finally discover himself. Distributed in Canada by Maison 4:3, THE DANCE OF THE FOXES will be released in Quebec on July 24, 2026.
