Maison 4:3 and Cool Raoul are proud to announce that the feature film L’AUTRE, directed by Alexandre Franchi, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, in the Centrepiece section. The film stars Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Bilel Chegrani, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, Nahéma Ricci, Benoît Gouin, Maxime Genois and the late Marc Messier. THE OTHER will be on display this fall.
Nailed to his hospital bed with a 50% chance of surviving cancer, a man discovers that his roommate – a young man with a gunshot wound – has no intention of letting him die in peace. A duel tinged with black humor then begins between the two men. THE OTHER is a grotesque and tender duel about mortality, identity, and what gives us the will to live. The film is inspired by a hospital stay that almost cost the director his life.
Scripted by Alexandre Franchi and Simon Lavoie, L’AUTRE is produced by Ménaïc Raoul and Alexandre Franchi. Steve Asselin is in charge of photography, Paskale Jobin is in charge of visual design, Hubert Hayaud is in charge of editing, while Gabrielle Tougas-Fréchette is in charge of costumes, Djina Caron is in charge of makeup and Mathieu Beauséjour is in charge of hairstyling. The original music is by Gabriel Scotti.
