The Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension district is launching a participatory approach for the redevelopment of Gabriel-Sagard Park, located at the intersection of Jean-Talon Est and Sagard streets in the François-Perrault district. Citizens of the area are invited to share their ideas in order to help transform the place into a welcoming, friendly and inclusive green space, which reflects the needs of the community.

“Located in the heart of a family area and close to a primary school, Gabriel-Sagard Park is an important meeting place for neighborhood life. So that it evolves according to today’s needs and lifestyles, the ongoing participatory approach will allow us, with citizens, to think collectively about a park that resembles them and that enriches the living environment of our communities,” underlined Jean François Lalonde, mayor of the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension district.

Concerted actions to define a development that reflects the image of the neighborhood This approach aims to understand current attendance habits and uses of the park, as well as to identify the priorities and preferences of the population to shape the park of tomorrow.

To do this, several actions are carried out with different users:* Targeted interviews take place with organizations and institutions in the neighborhood, including the Saint-Barthélemy school and its daycare service located opposite the park.* An online survey on the Realons Montréal platform, accessible until March 15, 2026, will make it possible to collect the opinions of citizens residing in the area. A paper version of the survey is also available on request at the counter of the Saint-Michel and Le Prévost libraries for people who are less comfortable with digital tools.* A co-creation workshop will be organized in the spring to bring out concrete ideas for the development of the redevelopment concept, taking into account the results of the survey. Stay tuned, details will be communicated on the project page on Realons Montréal.

How to participate? To complete the survey, go to realisons.montreal.ca until March 15, 2026. On the platform, you can also subscribe to receive project updates by email, such as the opening of registrations for the co-creation workshop.

Ultimately, the report on the participatory process will be shared on Realons Montréal. The results obtained will help guide future development choices.
