The Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough invites young people and families to take advantage of a spring break filled with free activities, offered from February 28 to March 8. Whether it’s cultural events, leisure activities, sports or library discoveries, VSP offers a host of opportunities to have fun close to home.

“Spring break is a special time. We are happy to see completely free, accessible and varied programming being deployed in the Villeray–Saint Michel–Parc Extension district. Whether it is to move, discover, read or attend a show, everything is in place to allow residents to escape and fully enjoy their neighborhood,” underlines Jean François Lalonde, mayor of the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension district.

Varied activities in the librariesTechnology workshops, crafts, board games, creative challenges: the three libraries in the district offer a diverse program designed to nourish the curiosity of young people.

Families can also borrow books, films and games from the Le Prévost, Saint-Michel and Parc-Extension libraries.

RoulivreLe Roulivre, VSP’s mobile library, will also circulate in several sectors to offer children under 13 years old stories and games. Shows to amaze young and old The borough’s cultural centers offer several performances, including:

Get moving all week: swimming pools, ice rinks, badminton and more. Parents and children will be able to exercise thanks to:

• Free swimming in the Joseph-Charbonneau, Villeray and Saint-Roch swimming pools • Free skating in the arena in Howie-Morenz and Saint-Michel • Badminton at the Jean-Rougeau sports center • Many outdoor ice rinks, including those in the Jarry, Nicolas Tillemont, François Perrault, Howard, De Normanville, Le Prévost, Champdoré, Ovila-Légaré and Sainte-Lucie parks • The Bleu refrigerated ice rink, Blanc, Bouge as well as that of TOHU, accessible free of charge. Fans of winter activities can also enjoy cross-country ski trails at Jarry and Frédéric-Back parks, or even slide down the sliding slope at Jarry park.

Equipment loan and day camps La Récré o mobile will offer free sports equipment and games in several parks in the borough every weekend. There are also places left in certain spring break day camps, run by passionate teams, to give young people a memorable experience.
