Author, columnist and committed man for many years, Richard Guilmette is today taking a new step in his journey by launching his very first album, Un peu de moi – Vol.1.
After spending a large part of his life writing to provoke, move, defend, tell and sometimes disturb, he now chooses to bring his texts to life through music. Eight songs, eight stories, eight pieces of life where love, freedom, illness, death, choice, hope and those beings who mark an existence intersect. From The taste of you to I love you too much to die, including My freedom hurts me, Life after life at 15, Dance with me, I understand your choice, What a great woman and MIRC, this album was not designed to follow a fashion: it was created to leave a mark.
A little about me is exactly what its title promises: a little about the man, a little about the author, a little about his struggles, his wounds, his loves and above all this immense desire to live.
Carrying out such a project is never done completely alone. Richard Guilmette would like to warmly thank the DistroKid team, which makes the international distribution of the album possible on major music platforms, as well as the computer graphics team who participated in the creation of its visual universe and the album cover. He also thanks Productions Mouvement Citoyen Handicap-Québec, which supports this project and this new way of making texts carrying messages heard.
Behind A Little Bit of Me – Vol. 1, there is obviously technology, but above all a profoundly human desire: to transform words written sometimes several years ago into emotions that we can now hear, feel and share. The lyrics and arrangements bear the signature of Richard Guilmette, while the music and vocals were produced with the help of artificial intelligence – a tool put at the service of creation, but where the heart, the stories and the words remain deeply human.
A little about me – Vol. 1 will be available everywhere by the end of the week, on major listening platforms and online music stores, including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and several other services distributed by DistroKid. Richard Guilmette invites the public to discover the album, to listen to the eight songs in their entirety, to share them and above all to take a few minutes to hear what they really say. Some will make you smile, others will make you think long after the last note and a few may hit where it hurts. But that is precisely the point. Because a text can be read and forgotten. A song can sometimes stay with us for a lifetime. A little about me – Vol. 1 arrives. And for the first time, the words of Richard Guilmette will no longer just be read: they will sing.
