For a fourth year, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership pays tribute to artists, artisans and professionals whose careers are strongly linked to the Quartier with its Recognition Award. The journey of three types of remarkable actresses and actors is saluted: artists, cultural workers and historical figures. Jean-Robert Choquet, Francine Bernier, Victor Pilon and Michel Lemieux as well as Daniel Iregui and Gratien Gélinas will be celebrated through an original video projection.

The work Recognition Prize – for audacity and culture: tribute portraits, created by Montreal multidisciplinary artist Elizabeth Laferrière, will be projected every day on the facades of the WILDER Building | Dance space and the Grande Bibliothèque after dark, from September 8 to October 4, 2026.

New personalities honored For the 2026 Prize, the public will discover the personalities who have shaped the Quartier or whose contribution has changed or continues to mark artistic activity in the Quartier des spectacles. A jury selected the recipients of the Prize in three categories: artists, cultural professionals and historical figures. The jury was made up of Nathalie Benoit, director, Institutional Promotion Division, UQAM; Sandra O’Connor, Co-Executive Director and Administrative Director, FTA; Louis-Armand Bombardier, president, LABE, Let Artists be; and Nassib El Husseini, Ph.D, C.Q., C.M., President and CEO, The 7 Fingers of the Hand.

Recognition by or for the actresses and actors of the Quartier des spectaclesThe Quartier des spectacles Partnership set up its Recognition Prize in 2023, the year of the organization’s twentieth anniversary. The latter, in the form of a video projection, a signature artistic practice of the Quartier des spectacles, pays tribute to one or more personalities important to the Quartier. Once a year, a call for applications is launched from Quartier des spectacles partners and a jury made up of personalities from the cultural sector selects the recipients through various categories.
