More than 300 professional artists will transform the streets of Montreal into veritable open-air stages thanks to a vibrant program combining street arts, music, circus, dance, theater, installations and participatory parades.<\/p>\n<p>Montreal, for me, is a big village. In 10 years, the FAR has become THE reference in street arts and a real FARmille meeting place for artists from here and elsewhere. The festivities at the General Quarters will be held in a different location each day: \u2022 Saturday August 29 (4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) in Ville-Marie \u2022 Sunday August 30 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) in Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension \u2022 Friday September 11 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve \u2022 Saturday September 12 (3 p.m. to 10 p.m.) in Vieux-Rosemont \u2022 Sunday September 13 (3 p.m. to 9 p.m.) in La Petite-Patrie<\/p>\n<p>This year, the FAR, presented by Belle Gueule in collaboration with Fizz, which is also supported by several other partners including Desjardins, will offer 10 participatory alley parades with festive and colorful themes: masked carnival, romantic, marshes, agriculture, comic strips, etc.! A large-scale parade has also been designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Olympic Games with the collaboration of the Quartier des spectacles and will take place on Saturday September 5 at 5 p.m. We want a large number of costumed audiences! To fully immerse themselves in Montreal, the FAR will travel to 10 locations in the city, including more outlying neighborhoods such as Montr\u00e9al-Nord, C\u00f4te-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Gr\u00e2ce and Saint-L\u00e9onard.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the artists unveiled for the first time in July (France D&rsquo;Amour, Calamine, Burning BRASs Band, Barbada and a trio made up of Super Plage, Virginie B and Nectar Palace. International: The Twin&rsquo;s Trip from Argentina and Green Cow from South Korea!), the FAR is happy to unveil new names: the DJ set of Choses Sauvages as well as street artists from across Quebec, including La Tortue Noire du Saguenay, who will come join the hundreds of artists for this anniversary edition. Stay tuned, the FAR has a surprise in store for the last show of the 10th edition, on Sunday September 13 at 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Other news: On August 27, the Festival will open its 10th edition with a benefit evening in a secret location which will only be announced to ticket holders! On the program, an intimate show bringing together Francesca Gagnon \u2013 the voice of Alegr\u00eda \u2013 and several circus artists, as well as a benefit auction. There will also certainly be several signature clownings from the FAR! More details very soon at FestivalFAR.com.<\/p>\n<p>Already looking to the future, the FAR is also launching its crowdfunding campaign on La Ruche: Pour une Jeunesse Tiss\u00e9e Rr\u00e9e, a project which will come to life during the 11th edition of the Festival. The objective is to produce FAR promotional materials from recovered textiles, transformed here in Montreal. Thanks to the help of young people aged 15-29 and in collaboration with textile recycling organizations, these materials will become pennants, patches, banners and other emblematic elements of the FAR. An initiative which demonstrates that it is possible to produce differently, by focusing on the circular economy and local know-how. The objective is $33,000, and if it is reached, the amount will be doubled by the Youth Secretariat, an important sum to ensure the sustainability of the organization&rsquo;s activities.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the FAR is proud to announce the return of its FAR Friperie! Festival-goers are invited to bring back an old retro item from the FAR in order to benefit from a 15% discount on items in the boutique. A great way to give a second life to memories of the Festival while discovering new favorites. The FAR can&rsquo;t wait to reunite with Montrealers to celebrate this 10th edition, an edition which promises to be the most ambitious in its history. For two weeks, the alleys will become places of meetings, discoveries and celebration where art will take over the city like never before.
