During this weekend, Promenade Wellington is transformed into a real open-air theater with completely free shows, performances, workshops, activities and installations.<\/p>\n<p>From traditional puppets to the most contemporary creations, sometimes poetic and sometimes surprising, the festival celebrates all the richness of this living art. A unique opportunity to discover the art of puppetry and be surprised, regardless of your age!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDesjardins is proud to support this unmissable cultural event in Verdun, for a 4th consecutive year. The Plein la rue Marionnettes Festival reflects values \u200b\u200bthat are dear to us, such as creativity, the richness of cultural diversity and commitment to our community. Here are some essentials of the 2026 edition:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Les Technicolores (Cr\u00e9ations vivants \u2013 Qu\u00e9bec): Participatory nocturnal light stroll. Opening performance on Friday, August 21 at 8 p.m.\u25cf The Bellhop (Hilarilar Marionetas \u2013 Spain): Coming from the golden age of large hotels, a clumsy and lazy bellhop sees his day turned upside down by a demanding customer.\u25cf V\u00e9lorution (Jeanne Lauzier \u2013 Quebec) &#038; Gardiennes (Sonya Butseva \u2013 Quebec): Miniature theater presented for one person at a time in a scenographic box. Winning performances of the Puppets Plein la rue prize at the OFF Casteliers Festival.\u25cf Canzona Furioso (Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l&rsquo;Oeil \u2013 Qu\u00e9bec): Chivalric epic presented indoors at Quai 5160 \u2013 Maison de la culture de Verdun.\u25cf Jacques et Zebrelle (Extravaganz\u2019art \u2013 Qu\u00e9bec): Duo of inhabited puppets on stilts of surreal and romantic inspiration.\u25cf Alix and the wolf (Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Tortue Berlue \u2013 Quebec): Humorous fable presented inside a bus. (By reservation only)\u25cf It\u2019s foaming! (Toxique Trottoir \u2013 Quebec): The foam and bubbles allow us to dive into our own childhood memories.\u25cf And more!<\/p>\n<p>Festival-goers will also be able to attend story times and a felt puppet-making workshop, presented by the BaNQ on Saturday, and even make their own moving insect in the workshop presented by Desjardins on Sunday. The photo exhibition Homage to Creation, put together in collaboration with the Association qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise des marionnettistes (AQM), highlights important players in the puppet world who left us in 2025.
