Thus, in 2026, her work will once again be displayed in the four corners of the world, notably in Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Canada and the Netherlands where, from March 26 to May 16, 2026, she will be welcomed as artist in residence at the Wereldmuseum (Museum of the World), a group of museums (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berg en Dal, Leiden) which explore world cultures.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline Monnet invites the public to discover her various creations. Sculptures, cinema, photographs, textiles and embroidery, the coming months will reaffirm not only all the richness of his work, but also his singular signature and the universal scope of his reflections on indigenous identity. As this year begins, here is an overview of the exhibitions of one of the most vibrant voices in contemporary creation.<\/p>\n<p>VANCOUVER (CANADA)Since January 17, 2026, the Vancouver gallery Macaulay and Co presents Materials of Memory, a solo exhibition which brings together various photographic and textile works by the artist which \u201cestablish an optimism focused on the future\u201d. By reinterpreting materials and images that have been controlled or exploited, Caroline Monnet reappropriates them as spaces of presence, resistance and construction of the future. Several photographs from the Ikwewak series will be presented, featuring First Nations women who free themselves from the European historical gaze, opening a space of reappropriation and projection where indigenous identity dialogues with tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>KINGSTON (AUSTRALIA)On the Australian continent, from March 20 to May 30, 2026, outdoors in light boxes, the Lightbox Gallery at Kingston Arts presents the Ikwewak exhibition. We will appreciate photographs taken from the series Echoes from a Near Future, Ikwewak and W\u00e0bigon, where memory and future come together, celebrating the strength of First Nations women by reinventing their image, far from colonial visions.<\/p>\n<p>GATINEAU (CANADA)From March 20 to September 8, 2026, the Canadian Museum of History presents Pizandawatc \/ The One Who Listens \/ He who listens a retrospective of the prolific production of Caroline Monnet, centered on a series of sculptures exploring the notion of territory from the angle of cultural attachment and ancestral memory, proposing new visions that echo both Indigenous heritages and futures.<\/p>\n<p>BERLIN, HAMBURG, HANOVER, OLDENBURG AND BREMEN (GERMANY)From January 29 to February 2, 2026, Caroline Monnet will visit five German cities to present a retrospective of her films, including her most recent film, Pidikwe in a tour through cultural cinemas. This captivating short film combines traditional indigenous dance and contemporary dance to create an avant-garde work, at the crossroads of cinema, art and performance. Organized by the German Film Fund.<\/p>\n<p>ROTTERDAM (NETHERLANDS)The ROTTERDAM PHOTO 2026 festival, under the theme Echoes Of Silence, will in turn host Echoes From a Near Future from March 27 to 29, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>About Caroline MonnetCaroline Monnet (Anishinaabe\/French) is a multidisciplinary artist from Outaouais, Quebec. She studied sociology and communication at the University of Ottawa, Canada, and the University of Granada, Spain, before embarking on her career in visual arts and cinema. She has presented her creations at the Whitney Biennial in New York, the Toronto Art Biennial, the K\u00d8S Museum in Copenhagen, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal, and the National Gallery of Canada. His individual exhibitions include the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Schirn Museum in Frankfurt, Arsenal Contemporary Art in New York, and the Vassivi\u00e8re Island International Center for Art and Landscape. She has participated in various film events, such as the Berlinale, the Toronto International Film Festival, Sundance, the Sydney International Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Film Festival. In 2016, the Cin\u00e9fondation of the Cannes Festival selected her for its residency in Paris. Caroline also has works in several permanent collections in North America and at UNESCO House in Paris. She received the Pierre-Ayot Prize, the Merata Mita grant from the Sundance Festival, a finalist for the 2020 Sobey Awards and a companion of the arts and letters of Quebec.
