March 7 and 8, 2026 at the Bourgie Room of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts\u202f\u202f"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Baroque Orchestra continues its 45th season with the program \u201cThe Tears of Mary\u201d, during which happiness and sadness, mourning and passions come to life from the pens of Giuseppe Battista Ferrandini, Antonio Vivaldi but also the rarely heard Maria Margherita Grimani and Maria Teresa Agnesi. For this program Arion welcomes for the first time to Montreal the contralto Anthea Pichanick and the conductor and harpsichordist Marie van Rhijn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIl pianto di Maria by Ferrandini is part of the short list of baroque works that deeply move me every time. Hearing it in a room, delivered by exceptional artists supported by our orchestra, will certainly be one of my highlights of our 2025-2026 season. \u00bb \u2013 Mathieu Lussier, artistic director\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Marie van Rhijn, harpsichord and conductorSoloist and continuo player, Marie van Rhijn first became head singer for the Arts Florissants, working with numerous ensembles such as the Talents Lyriques, Cappella Mediterranea, the Matheus ensemble, the Amarillis ensemble, Les Epop\u00e9es, the Po\u00e8me Harmonique, Insula orchestra, the Musiciens de Saint Julien. Having become a conductor, she directs the Arts Florissants, the Royal Opera Orchestra as well as several projects with her ensemble the Assembly, promoting the search for new and unpublished scores.<\/p><div id=\"linit-1094385031\" class=\"linit-dans-le-contenu linit-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8992136571741975\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8992136571741975\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"1055921646\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Anthea Pichanick, contraltoRecognized for her unique vocal grain, her strikingly deep timbre and a musicality combining refinement and intensity, French contralto Anthea Pichanick burst onto the musical scene by winning first prize in 2015 at the prestigious Antonio Cesti International Baroque Opera Competition in Innsbruck. Since then, this victory has been achieved with the greatest European baroque ensembles.<\/p>\n<p>Arion Baroque OrchestraFounded in 1981, Arion brings the full experience of early music on period instruments to today&rsquo;s audiences, combining a historically informed approach and contemporary sensitivity. His concerts at Salle Bourgie bring together some of the biggest names.
