Simply titled Scooter Gas, the record fully displays the signature of the tandem formed by Fred St-Gelais and Dom Faucher: an electro-funk tinged with the 80s and 90s, carried by catchy melodies, guitars, synths and texts which willingly cultivate the absurd, eccentricity, humor and pop culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this first album, we bring together two worlds rarely brought together: an assertive pop-funk production and a very Quebec tradition of songs capable of combining melodic efficiency and humor. We also have fun situating our project somewhere at the intersection between Chromeo and RBO! \u00bb, mention Fred St-Gelais and Dom Faucher.<\/p>\n<p>Musically, their influences draw directly from the 80s and 90s. The duo draws inspiration from retro sounds by thinking back to their memories of Prince, Madonna, Duran Duran or George Michael while mixing electro-funk with a flavor of Scissor Sisters, Blu DeTiger, DNCE, Midnight Generation or Parcels. In writing, Scooter Gas rather claims a kinship of spirit with these Quebec artists who, from Robert Charlebois to Trois Accords via RBO, Les Colocs and Les Fr\u00e8res \u00e0 Ch&rsquo;val, have made eccentricity a fertile ground for memorable choruses. This approach was already perceptible on Ricardo, launched last February: a retro-pop-electro declaration of love as playful as it is improbable for Ricardo Larrivee. With Scooter Gas, Fred St-Gelais and Dom Faucher are now expanding their playing field and giving full scope to this unique universe.<\/p><div id=\"linit-3329079102\" class=\"linit-dans-le-contenu linit-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8992136571741975\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px;\" \ndata-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8992136571741975\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"6185130430\"><\/ins> \n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>A PROJECT FOR TWO, WELL SURROUNDED If Fred St-Gelais and Dom Faucher built most of Scooter Gas together in the studio, several accomplices came to enrich the project. \u00c9l\u00e9onore Lagac\u00e9 signs a collaboration on Tell me not what to do. The artistic encounter dates back to the filming of the Rollerblades music video, in which she had agreed to participate on the drums, learning the instrument for the occasion. Subsequently invited to work on a song for the album, she composed the chorus before completing the piece in the studio with St-Gelais and Faucher. Another unexpected participation: Pierre-Yves McSween swaps numbers for the guitar for a song dedicated to tax season. Guitarist and great music lover, he joined the duo in the studio for a collaboration, the behind-the-scenes of which were also filmed. Kim Gingras, for his part, occupies a privileged place in the universe of the duo. A close creative accomplice of the project, she has supported its development since its beginnings, in addition to producing and choreographing its music videos and appearing in them. Finally, Scooter Gas surrounded himself with several musicians to give substance to his electro-funk: Mario Telaro on drums, Jonathan Arseneau and Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Langevin on bass, as well as Dominiq Hamel and Ryan Svendsen on brass. A nod to the origins of the song: the original recording of the guitar riff, captured on Dom Faucher&rsquo;s phone, is found as is in the final version. A very Scooter Gas way of transforming an idea launched as a joke into a piece in its own right. This new extract alone sums up a good part of the duo&rsquo;s spirit: an improbable idea, an assumed taste for retro references and, above all, the desire to make a terribly catchy song.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT SCOOTER GASScooter Gas brings together Fred St-Gelais, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has collaborated with numerous artists from here and abroad, and Dom Faucher, multidisciplinary creator particularly from the world of advertising and content creation.
