Visitors can discover the winning photos of the most prestigious photojournalism competition in the world as well as the related exhibitions presented on the mezzanine of the Bonsecours Market, in Old Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that this year, 42 winning photographers from 30 countries stood out among 3,747 photographers who submitted 57,376 photos. The award-winning projects address conflicts on a global scale, demonstrate the scale of the climate crisis, highlight citizen action and struggles for rights, reveal the fragility of human life, illness and isolation, show stories of younger generations, and present families affected by migration policies in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to winning photos, the World Press Photo Montr\u00e9al Expo presents seven complementary exhibitions, including Jacques Nadeau in the spotlight!, Vivre, by photographer Claire Beaugrand-Champagne, And life goes on, by photographer Martin Chamberland, En dottill\u00e9, territories d&rsquo;humanit\u00e9, signed by 28 students from C\u00e9gep du Vieux Montr\u00e9al, as well as the finalist photos of the 21st edition of the Antoine-D\u00e9silets prize from the Professional Federation of Journalists (FPJQ).<\/p><div id=\"linit-2772463762\" class=\"linit-dans-le-contenu linit-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8992136571741975\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px;\" \ndata-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8992136571741975\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"6185130430\"><\/ins> \n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Jacques Nadeau in the headlines!The photographs of Jacques Nadeau in the headlines!, selected by his daughter Virginie and by the photographers Martin Tremblay and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric S\u00e9guin, retrace significant events that marked the career of the late Jacques Nadeau and the evolution of Quebec for more than 40 years.Born in Quebec in 1953 and died in December 2025, Jacques Nadeau notably worked as a photographer at The Canadian Press before entering the daily newspaper Le Devoir in 1990. He taught photojournalism at the University of Montreal for nearly 20 years and published numerous works, including Le Qu\u00e9bec. Which Quebec?, Red Square and Photos Found.<\/p>\n<p>Living: Claire and Paule Beaugrand-Champagne in Southeast AsiaIn 1980, in a context of political and human upheavals in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, the photographer Claire Beaugrand-Champagne and her sister, the journalist Paule Beaugrand-Champagne, went to refugee camps in Thailand and Malaysia. For two months, they documented the lives of these people who fled persecution, violence and instability caused by the installation of new regimes. This crisis led to one of the largest population displacements of the 20th century. With these photos and the reports published over a week in La Presse in 1980, the Beaugrand-Champagne sisters bear witness to the reality experienced by these families waiting for a new start. More than 45 years later, the images comprising the Vivre exhibition constitute a testimony to this shared memory. Claire Beaugrand-Champagne is the first female professional press photographer in the history of Quebec. Exhibited in Quebec and abroad, collected by several museums, his work bears the mark of a deep social and human commitment. A prominent figure in Quebec journalism, his sister Paule Beaugrand-Champagne held important management positions at La Presse, Le Devoir, Journal de Montr\u00e9al, Radio-Canada, T\u00e9l\u00e9-Qu\u00e9bec and L\u2019avenir. She is the first woman to chair the Quebec Press Council.<\/p>\n<p>And life goes on, a photo essay by Martin Chamberland Echoing the exhibition Vivre, the photographer Martin Chamberland went this summer to meet four families from South-East Asia established in Montreal. In the exhibition And life goes on, four women tell, more than 45 years after the exile of their elders, how this heritage continues to live and be transmitted between generations.<\/p>\n<p>Dotted, territories of humanityDotted, territories of humanity offers 28 projects created by students in the photography program at C\u00e9gep du Vieux Montr\u00e9al. To preserve the authenticity of their look, these photographers were unaware that their images would be presented as part of the World Press Photo Montreal Expo. Actor, director and screenwriter Lou-Pascal Tremblay, spokesperson for the 19th edition of the World Press Photo Montreal Expo, selected and commented on four projects which will be presented in larger format. \u201cThese works explore identity, belonging and memory through realities often absent from the collective gaze. They transform photography into a meeting space, inviting us to take a fresh look at what connects us,\u201d observes Lou-Pascal Tremblay.<\/p>\n<p>The finalist photos for the 21st edition of the Antoine-Desilets prizeThe Professional Federation of Journalists of Quebec (FPJQ) has been awarding the Antoine-Desilets prize since 2005 to highlight the excellence of the work of press photographers working in the Quebec media. For a fourth year, the World Press Photo Montreal Expo is offering around twenty finalist photos, in the Arts and Culture, Social Issues, International, Photoreportage, Portrait, Sports and Daily Life categories.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of the news | An exhibition by La Presse Throughout the year, La Presse photojournalists document the events that mark the news and the issues that shape our society, here and elsewhere. From the major events that make the headlines to the more discreet scenes of everyday life, the photos presented bear witness to the richness and diversity of journalistic coverage of daily life.<\/p>\n<p>Destination: distinguishing true from false | A Radio-Canada exhibition With its exhibition dedicated to disinformation, Radio-Canada offers keys to better distinguish truth from falsehood in an environment where information circulates quickly and takes multiple forms. The objective: to help the public sharpen their gaze, recognize misleading content and better evaluate information on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>About the World Press Photo Foundation Founded in 1955, the World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization championing the power of photojournalism and documentary photography to deepen understanding, promote dialogue and inspire action. Based in Amsterdam, it benefits from the support of strategic partners, including the Dutch National Lottery and Fujifilm Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>About the World Press Photo Montreal ExpoA flagship event of the cultural season, the World Press Photo Montreal Expo is held each year at the Bonsecours Market (Old Montreal).
