Born 69 years ago under the pencil of Andr\u00e9 Franquin, Gaston is at first a lazy antihero who, very quickly, will become a character with boundless imagination and energy (as long as it doesn&rsquo;t involve work). Gaston is undoubtedly the funniest series in the history of Franco-Belgian comics, served by expressive and ultra dynamic graphics.<\/p>\n<p>DELAF<\/p>\n<p>The screenwriter and designer Marc Delafontaine \u2013 known as Delaf \u2013 was born on October 9, 1973 in Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada). Reading The Smurfs, Asterix, Lucky Luke and Boule et Bill from a very young age, little Marc discovered a particular affection for \u201cnaughty\u201d people like Iznogoud or Bobo. Should we see this as an explanation of the character of future Navels? The question may arise! But it was thanks to Gaston Lagaffe that he experienced his first great drawing shock, fascinated by the power and perfection of Franquin&rsquo;s line. It must be said that Delaf lives in an artistic environment, with a father who was a wood sculptor whose preparatory work is often done in drawing&#8230; However, we had to wait until reading the album Le R\u00e9veil du Z by Tome and Janry for Marc&rsquo;s vocation to blossom, who then decided to also become a comic book author. He is 12 years old. After having published, on his own account, the adaptation of a text by a singer-songwriter aunt, then caricatured his teachers at school, Delaf studied allowing him to obtain a DEC in Plastic Arts. He then produced a few small comics allowing newcomers to Quebec to learn French and then joined various Montreal animation studios, where he did inking, layout and storyboarding. From his meeting with Maryse Dubuc was born Les Nombrils, a successful series (more than 2.5 million albums sold) featuring Jenny and Vicky, two navel-gazing pests, and Karine, their kind painkiller. In 2023, Marc Delaf makes a dream come true by reprising the iconic character that is Gaston Lagaffe.<\/p>\n<p>LEWIS TRONDHEIM<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1964, Lewis Trondheim spent his youth in Fontainebleau. After taking advertising graphics courses, his meeting with Jean-Christophe Menu marked his debut in comics. After a few self-produced fanzines, he co-founded L&rsquo;Association, a publishing house bringing together David B., Stanislas, Mattt Konture, Killoffer and Jean-Christophe Menu. There he published The Carrots of Patagonia which remains a milestone, between philosophical reflection, twists and turns and humor. Since then, Trondheim has multiplied comic adventures, with the same intelligence tinged with malice and this elegant anthropomorphism which have become his signature. From the multiform and multiverse saga Donjon (with Joann Sfar), to that of his hero Lapinot, or to his personal notebooks, or to L&rsquo;Atelier Mastodonte, sometimes as a complete author, sometimes as a screenplay. In 2026, Lewis Trondheim says yes to Delaf to script the booms and busts of these new adventures of Gaston Lagaffe.
