Faithful to its unifying spirit, the Tranquille Esplanade remains the beating heart of the festival with a series of free outdoor performances, every evening from 5 p.m. The indoor programming takes a new step this year by investing in emblematic spaces: the Société des arts technologies [SAT] and the MTELUS but also the Maison symphonique and, for the first time, the Studio-Théâtre des Grands Ballets.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:728px;height:90px;"
data-ad-client="ca-pub-8992136571741975"
data-ad-slot="6185130430"></ins>

[embedded content]

Designed with the idea of offering a vast, diverse and contrasting panorama of current electronic and digital musical creation, this 27th edition focuses on spaces whose technical and sensitive characteristics extend the artistic proposals presented. With its monumental architecture and its particular acoustics conducive to attentive listening, the Maison symphonique will host, over three extraordinary evenings, performances alternating between classical instrumentation and electronic music. On the Grands Ballets side, the Studio-Théâtre will open a new field of experimentation for the Play series, returning after several years, in an environment conducive to enhanced audio-visual experiences.

“The only time MUTEK took over the Maison symphonique was in 2013, during a memorable evening bringing together Nils Frahm and Pantha from Prince & The Bell Laboratory. It’s a memory that has left a lasting impression on festival-goers and our team. Returning today to this exceptional place, while opening a new chapter within the Grands Ballets with the Play series, demonstrates a desire to continue to vary and amplify the MUTEK experience. »— Alain Mongeau, co-general director and artistic director of MUTEK

With an artistic selection that is always rich, eclectic and protean, this 27th edition therefore unfolds under the sign of amplification: an edition which continues to push the limits, carried by a breath and a enthusiasm which continues to be demonstrated by audiences around the world. MUTEK confirms its place as an essential summer meeting place to celebrate the diversity and vitality of digital cultures.

An amplified panorama of contemporary sound and visual expressionsNearly 120 artists from 28 countries are spread across 18 programs, the majority of which are Montreal premieres. Between live performances, immersive audiovisual works, dance experiences and hybrid creations, this 27th edition deploys a wide range of current practices in electronic music and digital creativity. Structured around five series, the programs reveal different intensities, aesthetics and ways of inhabiting sound, image and space.

[embedded content]

Night Series | Technological Arts Society | from August 26 to 30, from 10 p.m. | The backbone of the Festival, the Nocturne series occupies both the SAT space and the Satosphere dome, bringing together future revelations and essential pioneers.
