This great classic of French cinema, completed two weeks before the director&rsquo;s death, is adapted from the eponymous novel by Jos\u00e9 Giovanni and based on a true story.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Marc Michel, the film tells the story of Claude Gaspard, accused of attempted murder of his wife and locked up in the Sant\u00e9 prison. His four cellmates, aptly played by Michel Constantin, Jean Keraudy, Philippe Leroy and Raymond Meunier, tell him of their desire to escape and dig, with fierce energy, a tunnel that will lead them to freedom. In the event of rain, the screening will be postponed to Monday August 3.<\/p>\n<p>About Six Sunday evenings in the summer, since 2015, Film Noir au Canal has presented cult detective films free of charge outdoors on the banks of the Lachine Canal. Amid silos and industrial buildings, the crime film festival could hardly dream of a better atmosphere. The films screened are from a selection of masterpieces of classic or contemporary film noir. Film Noir au Canal is presented thanks to the financial support of W.
