The singer-songwriter and recognized poet (Do not shame your century, The thief) arrives a little over a year after the release of her first album Le Requiem des mermaids saoules with a softer sound, but still inhabited. Built in a kitchen transformed into a studio, it bears the marks of a world crossed by despair, fear and violence, but also by the need to find refuge in creation and in others. The Cinematheque<\/p>\n<p>ABOUT THE FOCUS TRACK \u201cLA CIN\u00c9MATH\u00c8QUE\u201d This is an autobiographical piece inspired by the fascinating life of his grandmother, Brigitte Purkhardt, this artist and free woman before her time who was part of the Quebec cultural scene. An actress, writer, critic and theater teacher, she was also a hat maker and a doctoral student in erotic literature. A woman of a thousand lives, she fled Poland during the Second World War, she became a single mother at twenty. She explored sexuality and desire without taboo, starring in a few erotic films in the 1970s, one of which was screened at the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise when Daria was a teenager. It was this memory, which has remained legendary, which inspired the play. The song evokes the fascination, tenderness and complexity surrounding this brilliant woman who has now been suffering from Alzheimer&rsquo;s for around ten years. Through this piece, Daria Colonna paints the portrait of an extraordinary grandmother and a luminous muse.<\/p>\n<p>ABOUTDaria Colonna is a Montreal poet known for the now famous collection Don&rsquo;t shame your century and the powerful poetic story The Thief. Renowned poet, Daria Colonna broke away from literature in 2023, when she met singer-songwriter and producer Vince James. Together, they develop a musical and poetic universe where the melancholy of French song meets a trip hop that is as minimalist as it is orchestral.
