Kid Paddle’s 21st album[1] is already available from Editions Dupuis under the amusing title of Zombie or Not to Be. This little nod to Shakespeare’s quote sets the tone for this humorous series which is already celebrating its 30th anniversary.
Published for the first time in the magazine Spirou in 1993, the series presents short stories from the little Kid on one, two or three pages. The first album by Michel Ledent, aka Midam, was released in 1996 before continuing the series from 2004 Game Over, which is derived from the universe of Kid Paddle…but that’s another story.
The author of the series, in the company of his accomplices in the script and graphics, creates humorous anthology fresco scenes that never go out of style.
Midam, surpasses himself each time to take us into the world of the character of Kid who is in constant competition with his sister Carole, who often takes him for a little brainless person.
A fan of gore films, Kid competes in imagination with his friends Horace and Big Bang to try to get into the cinema in order to see films that are forbidden to him for his age. He is also a video game fanatic with his favorite character and avatar, the little barbarian.
Zombie or Not to Be, brings new freshness to Kid’s adventures with around thirty gags that are as crazy as they are surprising.
As a bonus, fans of the series will be able to discover black and white sketches which are inspired by this new album.
