The TWIST Fiber Festival, presented by Desjardins in collaboration with SODEC, the Ministry of Tourism and Outaouais Tourism, will open its doors this Friday, August 7 at the Whissell Complex in Saint-André-Avellin, in Outaouais. Until August 9, the 14th edition of the largest fiber festival in the country will highlight the sharing, learning and transmission of Quebec textile know-how.
This edition will focus on participatory experiences, living heritage and local know-how, inviting the public to learn, create and exchange with artisans and artists from Quebec and elsewhere in Canada.
Not to be missed • Demonstrations and conferences – Around ten free demonstrations and conferences, as well as the popular sheepdog demonstrations. • Five days of workshops – Around thirty professional artists will offer workshops in spinning, knitting, felting, sashiko, lace, natural dyeing, Tunisian crochet, micro-macramé and more. • On the paths of the thread – Great new feature of this 14th edition, this immersive space will highlight Quebec’s living heritage through demonstrations, participatory workshops and artistic performances. • The large textile market – Artists, craftsmen and businesses from Quebec and Canada brought together to offer specialized supplies, equipment, original works and handmade creations. • Activities for the whole family – Workshops for toddlers, gourmet fair highlighting Outaouais producers and a host of participatory activities.
