Drugs: help and reference and Game: help and reference announce the launch of (Pré)contemplation, a podcast in eight episodes which lifts the veil on the daily work of addiction workers and demystifies the request for help.
(Pre)contemplation is neither a collection of testimonies of recovery journeys, nor a series of academic round tables. It is a podcast which, in an intimate and refined format, is addressed with kindness to all people who question their consumption or their gambling habits, as well as to those around them. Each episode opens with a fictional story inspired by real-life situations, before giving the floor to a front-line worker who explains concretely how help takes shape, what the most common fears are, and why it is never too early or too late to call.
The title of the podcast is inspired by the Prochaska and DiClemente model, which describes the six stages of change in addiction: precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and relapse. As its name suggests, (Pre)contemplation is particularly aimed at people who are not yet in action, nor quite in preparation, but who are, perhaps, beginning to ask themselves questions.
The eight episodes address various themes: the first call and the fear of judgment, relapse and harm reduction, the role of those around you, night calls, the overdose crisis, the pitfalls of gambling and even the consequences of excessive gambling. Each episode lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. (Pré)contemplation is available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and BaladoQuébec.
