Minuit au Parc closes its 10th edition with a cycle dedicated to public choices, from September 4 to November 1.
Previous cycles of the 10th edition of Minuit au Parc provided a retrospective of the films that started the trend of Midnight Movies in the 60s and new classics from directors who have become cult, as well as presenting the favorite films of cinema employees. To round off the year, Cinéma du Parc invited its customers to vote for their favorite films from those presented as part of Minuit au Parc since its beginnings.
Nearly 1,200 votes later, the lineup visibly reflects the series’ best hits and includes some of the greatest horror films of all time.
A single vote gave Ridley Scott’s ALIEN the edge to be named the most popular film in the series. An undeniable classic, the film influenced a generation of filmmakers and is considered one of the key texts of the body horror genre. In 2nd position, we find not a horror film, but the black comedy FALLEN ANGELS by Wong Kar-wai. Through its aesthetic, soundtrack, and experimental cinematography, FALLEN ANGELS cemented its cult status.
Among the other films in the program, we find another master of body horror, Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg with VIDEODROME, the psychedelic nightmare HOUSE, by Nobuhiko Obayashi and the supernatural horror SUSPIRIA by Dario Argento.
This marks the end of the 10th edition, and Minuit au Parc will be back with a brand new program in March 2027.Programming
