The sun is shining on La Florida! A few weeks after its sold-out media premiere at the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne, the theatrical adaptation of the famous Quebec film is off to a remarkable start. Welcomed enthusiastically by the guests and media present, the show sparked many bursts of laughter and received a warm ovation at the end of the performance.
The public’s enthusiasm is also reflected at the box office, where more than 12,000 tickets have already been sold for the summer performances and the Quebec tour. Faced with this enthusiasm, two additional ones are added to the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne on August 6 and 7. Tickets for the Montreal performance on February 19, 2027 at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts are also now on sale. After its visit to Terrebonne, La Florida will continue its tour throughout Quebec, including stops in Quebec, at the Albert-Rousseau Hall, on March 22 and May 9, 2027, in addition to visiting several other cities in the province.
Bringing together Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Louis Champagne, Didier Lucien, Lauren Hartley, Gary Boudreault, Marc St-Martin and Joakim Robillard, under the direction of Charles Dauphinais, La Florida brings to life on stage all the madness, humor and warmth of the great classic of Quebec cinema imagined by Suzette Couture and Pierre Sarrazin. Thirty years after having marked the collective imagination, this adaptation demonstrates that its endearing characters, its irresistible humor and its family spirit continue to appeal to all generations.
Since the curtain rose, the reactions have been unanimous. Spectators happily rediscover the colorful characters of the Lspérance family and the shattered world of Motel Ginette, in an adaptation that happily combines nostalgia and freshness. The numerous testimonies collected at the exit of the room confirm that La Florida retains its place in the hearts of Quebecers.
NO NEED FOR A PASSPORT TO FLY WITH FLORIDABetween nostalgia, misunderstandings, flamboyant characters and tasty lines, the show offers the public a real summer getaway without leaving their seats. Performances continue all summer at the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne before the production leaves on tour throughout Quebec.
