Online launch of the documentary L’Ère du Feu: 21 Jours en Amazonie by director Émile Roy, whose previous documentary L’Amour Moderne reached nearly a million people.
While numerous forest fires are raging in Canada and elsewhere in the world, Montreal director Émile Roy is launching his new documentary produced by his studio RÉUNIR on his YouTube channel. The Age of Fire: 21 Days in the Amazon is a film that meets those who experience fires on a daily basis, so that we put the impact of climate change at the forefront of our social and political priorities. For 21 days, Émile Roy, accompanied by the anthropologist Micha Jam and the young indigenous cameraman Kuaimbu, traveled through the Brazilian Amazon to document the human stories behind the climate crisis: families who see their land burning, indigenous communities fighting to preserve their territory, ecosystems weakened by a cycle of violence between humans and nature. From this choral film comes a universal call for climate action, solidarity and hope to continue the fight of the century together.
The sequels• Additional video capsules focused on solutions will be unveiled on Émile Roy’s social channels in the coming weeks.• Émile Roy, in collaboration with Lab 22, will tour schools in 2026-2027 to discuss his documentary and climate changes.• Télé-Québec will broadcast the documentary in the coming months.
* “When we see the forests burning at home, it makes the subject of the film terribly concrete. There are people, not so far from here, in the Amazon, who are already experiencing the consequences of climate change. I want to make their voices heard so that we understand the urgency and choose to act, once and for all. » — Émile Roy, director* “As an anthropologist, I am interested in our relationship with nature and the struggle of the most vulnerable people. It is with this in mind that I wanted to participate in this documentary with Émile Roy, to give voice to the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. I hope that we will be able to relay the climate emergency experienced on the ground by these communities. » — Micha Jam, anthropologist and protagonist of the film
