MAISON 4:3 is pleased to announce that THE INTEREST OF ADAM by Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel will be released on August 21. Presented at the opening of Critics’ Week 2025 at the Cannes Film Festival and presented in North America during the 31st edition of the CINEMANIA festival last November in the presence of the director, THE INTEREST OF ADAM immerses the viewer in a psychological thriller pitting the obsessive love of a mother against the rigidity of institutional rules. Léa Drucker (File 137, Last Summer) and Anamaria Vartolomei (The Count of Monte Cristo, The Event), brilliantly embody two women opposed by the system.
Lucy, a pediatric nurse, finds herself faced with the distress of a mother and her son, whom her superiors and social services would like to separate.
After Un monde, her highly acclaimed first film launched in the Un certain regard section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 where she won the FIPRESCI Prize as well as a career crowned with numerous prizes in different international festivals and 2 Magritte Prizes (Equivalent to the IRIS Prizes in Belgium) for Best Direction and Best First Film, Laura Wandel, member of the feature film jury of the official competition of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, signs here a work which delicately explores the dilemmas ethical and human issues that cross the hospital environment, as well as the pressure that emanates from it. Distributed in Canada by Maison 4:3, THE INTEREST OF ADAM will be released in Quebec on August 21, 2026.
