The elections are approaching, the promises are piling up and the low blows are multiplying. Starting this evening, the Théâtre la Marjolaine presents Monsieur le Maire, a biting comedy by Emmanuel Reichenbach, written in collaboration with Mario Jean, who also directed it. Carried by Mario Jean, Catherine Proulx-Lemay, Catherine Paquin-Béchard, Blaise Tardif and Simon Beaulé-Bulman, this political satire plunges the public into the sometimes incredible backstage of municipal power. Between personal ambitions, dubious strategies, influencers seeking visibility and repeated reversals, alliances change faster than electoral signs.
With its lively humor, its brisk pace and its larger-than-life characters, Monsieur le Maire plays with the contradictions of our times while offering a decidedly entertaining evening. On display until August 8, 2026, the play is presented from Wednesday to Saturday at 8 p.m., with certain additional performances on Saturdays at 3 p.m.
Welcome to the deliciously absurd backstage of municipal politics! Collusion, shenanigans, power rivalries, drunken evenings and excessive ambitions: Monsieur le Maire is a biting and hilarious comedy which plunges us into the last days of a populist mayor determined to win his final elections… even if everything is collapsing around him! In an atmosphere of a supercharged electoral campaign, where twisted strategies, influencers in search of glory and reversals of jacket on repeat, alliances change faster than election signs.
