Since June 10, Valérie Chevalier has presented Who are you when you’re all alone?, a new series of intimate interviews broadcast on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Through eight sensitive encounters with Quebec public figures appreciated by the public, she explores a question that is at once simple, universal and deeply intimate: “Who are you when you’re all alone? »Between a filmed podcast and a documentary series, the project offers frank conversations about solitude, identity, the image we project and what remains when there is no longer a performance to do or a character to hold.
Filmed in an intimate setting at Valérie Chevalier’s home with a film crew, the series adopts a careful visual and narrative approach which makes each encounter a space for true, nuanced and deeply human speech.
Throughout the discussions, the guests address themes that are as personal as they are universal: masculinity, mental health, happiness, romantic relationships, family, the need for space, intrusive thoughts, independence, freedom as well as the habits, reflexes and secrets that we keep to ourselves.

“We rarely talk about loneliness other than as a problem to be solved. Yet it is part of the human experience. It can be gentle, necessary, heavy, soothing or dizzying. I wanted to create a space where we can talk about what we experience when there is no longer an outside perspective,” says Valérie Chevalier.
Host, author and producer, Valérie Chevalier has for several years led a career between television and radio (Cochon Dingue, Salut Bonjour, La Voix, Rythme FM), and digital creation. She is also pursuing an important literary career and will publish a tenth novel with Hurtubise this fall. Winner of three Gémeaux Prizes, she has also produced several noted web projects, including Salade de fruits, Cupidonne and La Culottée. With Who are you when you’re all alone?, she continues her exploration of intimacy and human relationships, themes already at the heart of her work.
