The Montreal International Black Film Festival (FIFBM), founded by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, is back for its 22nd edition, from September 23 to 27, 2026, with a program of 56 films from 21 countries, including Haiti with the film Soley Twopikal Ak De Je Li (The Tropic Sun and His Eyes) with actors Stevenson Jean and Blangue Machiny.
Directed by Elisee Junior St Preux, the feature film will be broadcast this Thursday, September 24 at 9 p.m. at the Cinéma du Musée in Montreal.
SYNOPSIS:
Ruben, a disillusioned 26-year-old, returns home to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, to reconnect with his estranged father, before it is too late. Along the way, he befriends a young street boy whose determination to connect pushes Ruben to confront childhood memories, family trauma, and a vulnerability he has avoided for years. Through her encounters with locals and shared stories of joy, pain and resilience, this journey becomes a powerful exploration of healing, human connection and the breaking of generational cycles.
