From June 1 to 30, the Cinémathèque québécoise offers the opportunity to rediscover the work of Stanley Kubrick in its entirety and on the big screen. From war films to period films, from science fiction to horror, from anticipation to satire, the filmmaker has been able to transcend genres, produce masterpieces and always innovate.
In dialogue with his work, the institution presents two documentaries which inspired him respectively for 2001 and Full Metal Jacket: Universe by Canadian filmmakers Roman Kroitor and Colin Low; and Basic Training by Frederick Wiseman, who recently passed away.
In addition, on June 4, Victor Norek will explore the major milestones in the filmmaker’s filmography to understand how he was able to establish himself as such a sacred monster of cinema. This conference will be offered free of charge and will be followed by the presentation of the essential 2001: A Space Odyssey, at 8 p.m.
STANLEY KUBRICK, THE CINEMA ODYSSEY, to see at your Cinematheque from June 1 to 30!
