An artist vibrant with raw intensity and disarming sincerity, the young singer-songwriter Maxime Lapointe will unveil this Friday, March 13, his second album, Tête à l’envers. Twelve deeply personal titles, assumed, shaped in the urgency of truth. “This album is everything I am. An introspection, a quest, a way of looking at oneself differently. I wanted to dig where it hurts, where it liberates. I hope that these songs will become an outlet for those who recognize themselves in them,” confides Maxime Lapointe.
Between regrets and remorse, lost loves, excess, narcissism, dreams and nightmares, Maxime Lapointe bluntly explores areas of darkness and fog, offering twelve rock pieces with texts that are sometimes raw, always authentic. Designed to be listened to in one breath, from track 1 to track 12, the album has been carefully crafted. “My manager was crazy enough to tell me: here are the keys, you have seven days in the studio! Do what you want. We took the time to serve each song as best as possible, with brass, violins, keyboards…, different shades, all under the direction of Christian Martin, the big man, a genius,” says the artist, happy and impatient to meet his audience this Friday from 6 p.m., at Bistro à Jojo in Montreal, for the official launch of this album, born from the heart and the guts!

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MAXIME LAPOINTE Fans of La Voix will remember him as a protégé of Pierre Lapointe in 2020, as an artist “amazing with his cover of Mes mains blanche, by Philippe Brach” (La Presse). The one who will shine until the duels stage, showing “assurance, accuracy and creativity to defend his place” (QMI), then revealed to the general public all his talent and authenticity. Semi-finalist the same year at the Granby International Song Festival, Maxime Lapointe launched Papa in 2022, a first record that he has been working on for a long time. A multi-instrumentalist – he concentrates, however, on the guitar and the piano (and the clarinet that we hear on the song Ce Soir) – he draws his inspiration in particular from the many local artists he listens to.
