Théo Grosjean is a French comic book author. He is particularly known to Instagram users for having published his series The Most Freaked Man in the World, which was adapted into a French animated series in two seasons and broadcast on Canal+. Featuring the author himself in short independent stories, this series tells in a humorous way the daily life of a character who suffers from great anxiety.
After having published the first three volumes with Editions Dupuis, then adaptations as a children’s novel with Editions Pocket Jeunesse (PKJ), Théo Grosjean returns to us with a fourth volume entitled Dernier thrill[1], we once again find young Elliot.
Elliot left elementary school for middle school. He grew up. And yet, he is far from having changed and getting rid of his anxieties. For a child of his age, lack of self-confidence is normal during adolescence and during the identity construction phase. In order to help us understand the doubts of the young schoolboy, the author chose to materialize this anxiety in the form of a creature who has the unfortunate tendency to imagine the worst scenarios.
Elliot’s friends are also accompanied by their own creatures with strange colors and shapes. There is Alice, the network star; Églantine, the disillusioned young girl who is very close to Elliot; as well as his best friends, Hari and Aymeric. And of course, there is Bastien, the former school boss who became Elliot’s friend.
However, with the start of the school year, Dylan, a new student arrives at the school. Fired from his old establishment, he quickly takes over the role of boss (him and his creature), and terrifies all the students.
One thing is certain: the year promises to be eventful for Elliot and his friends, as Théo Grosjean illustrates so well in this comic strip which depicts the daily life of college students with great humor.
