Les Films du 3 Mars, Les Films Cosmos inc., Hutong Productions and Moon Man are proud to announce the digital release of the feature film Intercepted by Canadian-Ukrainian filmmaker Oksana Karpovych. Presented in theaters last winter, the documentary superimposes the world of the one who destroys and the one who is destroyed to reveal the terrible reality of war and the impasse of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. The film is now available online across Canada via the F3M+ platform, four years to the day after the start of the bloodiest conflict on European soil since the Second World War.

Having its world premiere at the Berlinale, where it received two special mentions from the jury, Intercepted was subsequently selected in more than 100 festivals around the world. The film won around thirty awards, including the Grand Prix in the national feature film competition at the Rencontres nationaux du documentary de Montréal (RIDM) and several Iris at the Gala Québec Cinéma, notably those for best documentary, best editing and best sound (documentary).

Synopsis Since the invasion, Ukrainian intelligence services have intercepted thousands of phone calls made by Russian soldiers on the front to their relatives back in Russia. From these recordings, filmmaker Oksana Karpovych depicts the cruelty of war with dizzying emotional power. Juxtaposed with images of devastated landscapes, where the Ukrainian population tries daily to resist and rebuild their country, the voices of Russian soldiers betray in turn illusory heroism, madness, doubt and disillusionment. Accounts of propaganda, looting and even more terrible crimes expose the dehumanizing power of war and the imperialist nature of Russian aggression.
