Molly Wind is a comic strip imagined by Catalina González Vilar, author of Spanish origin, who publishes stories for children and adolescents. She works here with the Spanish designer Toni Galmés to bring us to life the world of Molly, a young traveling librarian in Black Valley, in the heart of the Great American West.
Catalina González Vilar succeeds in imbuing us with the historical context in which the series takes place through Molly’s positive outlook. Toni Galmés creates colorful drawings and offers to discover, at the end of this third volume entitled The Thieves of Black Valley[1], great sketches of Molly and Carson.
This youth comic strip highlights the importance of values such as friendship and solidarity in times of crisis. The plot takes place around 1937. While the decade following the 1929 crisis had serious economic repercussions on the lives of Americans including that of the Wind family, Anna, the older sister, decided to become a librarian. She is assisted by Molly, her 9-year-old little sister who travels the valley on the back of Carson, her faithful thoroughbred.
Molly and her friends will stop at nothing to maintain the library’s activity to the point of organizing a raffle to save the project. She offers the book Sherlock Holmes to Mr. Franck, Around the World in 80 Days to his friend Samuel, and advises Mr. Jameson to read The Hounds.
However, the tranquility of the town is threatened by horse thieves who are rampant in the valley. Molly and her friends investigate.
Will they succeed in finding the culprits?
