Vital Distribution is pleased to participate in the 32nd edition of the CINEMANIA Film Festival which will take place from November 4 to 15 in Montreal, with the selection of two films from its catalog. Film buffs will be able to discover the fiction feature film Au nord des hommes by Marc G. Carbonneau and the documentary Les Chrysalides by Sandrine Béchade.

Screened as a world premiere, Au nord des hommes by Marc G. Carbonneau (The real Jacques Villeneuve, Indéfendable) follows in the heart of the Quebec forest, a small group of journalists as they carry out an investigation into a camp for men led by a charismatic young leader, Noé, whose words ignite a generation in search of meaning. Behind the promises of fraternity and self-improvement that this wellness camp puts forward, a mechanism of radicalization is taking place. What was supposed to be a report turns into an ideological trap. Soon, observers become targets and the truth slips away, becoming a matter of survival.

The first red carpet will be held on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Cinéma du Musée, in the presence of the director, actors Félix-Antoine Duval, Karl-Antoine Suprice, Alfred Poirier and Mathieu Baron, as well as actresses Janie Faucher-Roy and Devi Julia Pelletier. A second screening will take place on Saturday, November 7 at 4 p.m. at Cinéma Moderne. Les Chrysalides will also have its world premiere at the festival. Over ten years of filming and as many countries traveled, this touching documentary follows six teenagers who evolve and travel to the heart of grandiose landscapes. It was by seeking to maintain the connection with her teenagers that mother and filmmaker Sandrine Béchade (Mon Oncle Patof) was inspired by nature which transforms with the seasons. She immersed the six young people in a diversity of natural environments around the world to create discussion, year after year. Like this transition from caterpillar to butterfly, the film invites us to contemplate the metamorphosis of the young human through the beauty of the world.

It will be screened in competition in the Quebec Films section, on Sunday, November 8 at 5 p.m. at the Cinéma du Musée, in the presence of the director and the protagonists Lénie B. Desrosiers, Méo B. Desrosiers, Yanice B. Desrosiers, Devi Julia Pelletier and Shan Pelletier. A second screening will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 4 p.m. at the Cinéma Moderne.A SECOND EDITION OF THE VITAL FUNDAlso on the program for the professional component, Vital Productions and CINEMANIA will organize a pitch session on Thursday, November 12 at 3:45 p.m. at the Cinémathèque québécoise, to offer a screenwriter the opportunity to develop a feature film project thanks to the Vital Fund. During its first edition, this screenplay competition allowed filmmaker Marc G. Carbonneau to advance Au nord des hommes, which is now among the two Vital films selected at the festival. For this second edition, a new jury composed of Micheline Lanctôt, Mylène Corbeil, Ronan Thomas, Amingo Thora and Sandrine Béchade will evaluate the projects presented. He will succeed the jury of the first edition, made up of Élisabeth Dumouchel, Pascale Bussières, Caroline Bergoin, Félix Chrétien, Nicolas Krief and Alexandre Auger. During this dynamic session, the screenwriters Yannick Savard and François Pagé (Territoire Occupied), Louis Champagne and Dominick Parenteau-Lebeuf (Lady Mama), Renaud Gélinas (Impermanence) and David Couture (The Melody of the Lake) will have some minutes to present their project and convince the members of the professional jury. Scene readings by actors Noah Parker and Marie Bernier will bring the proposed universes to life. The public, invited to discover these new voices, will then be able to continue the discussions during a networking cocktail. This event is free for everyone upon registration.
