A nostalgia with the taste of crème de mentheIn this short piece, Michel-Maxime pays homage to all the Michelines, these tireless women who do not let themselves be impressed by two cents. These mothers, sisters, aunts and friends who did not have the life they dreamed of and who despite everything played an irreplaceable role in our families. These women who always seem to come from another era and who liven up our family parties, a glass of crème de menthe in hand.
After having won over the public and the critics with his solo show Michelin, Michel-Maxime Legault further explores the inexhaustible source of inspiration represented by his family and his original environment. Directed by Marie-Hélène Gendreau (Fanny, Tom on the Farm, The Children), Michel-Maxime tells us about his mother, an outspoken, caring and uninhibited woman, while actress Frédérike Bédard (Whitehorse, Zénith, Ladies Night) portrays his colorful aunt, who attracted attention at every opportunity.
Summary “Micheline is my mother. She’s also my aunt. My first models of women with auburn hair and defined eyebrows. To differentiate them on New Year’s Day at the Vaudreuil parish hall, they were called Micheline à Robert and Micheline à Yvon. Micheline: a real boomer name. At the time when Micheline were in fashion, so was sandwich bread. Today, this name is doomed to disappear. They are on the verge of extinction, the Micheline. Soon, only archaeologists will be interested in it. We must celebrate them before it is too late.”
